International education plays a key role in shaping our economy and we will continue working with incredible organizations like the Alberta Bureau of International Education (ABIE) to position Alberta as a world leader in post-secondary education. ABIE has been instrumental in showcasing Alberta’s post-secondary institutions as leaders in research, innovation, and skills development.
Leading Alberta’s global education vision
Established in 2022 by the Government of Alberta and SAIT with Dr. Raynie Wood appointed as Executive Director in 2024, ABIE is dedicated to representing Alberta’s post-secondary institutions in provincial, national and global conversations.
Dr. Raynie Wood was appointed executive director of the Alberta Bureau of International Education (ABIE) on April 1, 2024. Prior to this role, she served as the dean of a school for advanced technology. With extensive experience in various post-secondary sectors both locally and globally, Dr. Wood holds a Master of Education from the University of Calgary and a PhD in Education and Human Resource Studies from Colorado State University specializing in higher education leadership. She recently completed the Directors Education Program at the ICD – Rotman School of Management, Toronto.
Richard is an experienced international education professional with expertise in operational leadership, global engagement, and partnerships. He has held roles in mobility, pathways, and immigration compliance. He is committed to enhancing international engagement and holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Art.
Flossy Lobo,
Executive Assistant, ABIE
Flossy is an experienced executive assistant and immigration services professional with over eight years of expertise. She has managed executive functions, global travel, and corporate events. Starting her career in Kuwait in 2012, she moved to Canada in 2023. Flossy holds a BSc in Computer Science.
